Consider this fundamental truth: prioritizing a purpose that’s profitable over solely chasing profit can significantly enhance your business’s success and longevity.

Direct Video Transcript:

Here’s something that I’ve taught for decades. It’s a simple phrase that has a powerful punch and a deep meaning.

It’s this. A company can make more money if you have a purpose that’s profitable than if profit is your purpose.

Do you hear the power in it? Do you hear the meaning in it? Do you hear the depth of the concept?

You’ll make more money if you have a purpose that’s profitable than if profit is your purpose. If you’re going after that almighty dollar and that’s all you focus on, you’ll do things that may not be appropriate for long-term success.

You might cut corners. You might be a little bit less honest than you need to be. It’s not the almighty dollar that will make the almighty dollar. Instead, figure out and understand and remember why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Why does it excite you? What is the purpose for your company’s existence? And when you can stay true to that, it not only lights your fire, it lights the fire of the people that are with you.

They want to be a part of something that is purposeful. People like a cause. They like a purpose.

And when your employees know that this that we’re doing causes this meaningful purpose to be fulfilled. They get more motivated and they will be more loyal, and they’ll be more effective and efficient in their working relationship with you.

Now, obviously, it’s important to make money. You’ve got to make a profit. If you don’t, you can’t stay in business.

But if that’s your focus, you won’t be as successful as if you let the money be a result of focusing on a purpose that’s profitable.

That’s the core message that I have for you in this little teaching.

Remember the why, and that’ll help you get up in the morning. Remember the why. And that will help you get more energy.

Remember the why and you will understand again what it means to get your fire lit and to be able to be passionate about life and what you do.

You’ll make more money if you have a purpose that’s profitable, then a profit is your purpose.
