I have a good friend I met back in the days of Yellow Pages. I still have one of those books in my junk drawer, but who uses those things anymore? Times have changed.

Achieve Powerful Change by Taking One Simple Step

Everyone is aware of the changes in our world. You’ll hear that older person say, “Things have really changed! Why, back in MY day…” then they tell you how it WAS, how they used to walk for miles just to go to school…through year-round blizzards…uphill…BOTH ways.

I asked my daughter-in-law why she changed from calling to only texting? With a cute little smirk she said, “Calling is so old-school.” (She wasn’t right though. Texting is much, MUCH older. Do you know who the first person was to “text”? It was Moses. Around 2,000BC he wrote, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth,” Genesis 1:1. And that, by all accounts, is a text).

In truth, WHAT we do hasn’t changed very much, if at all. Our communication, travel, what we view, putting on clothes… it all remains pretty much the same. But HOW we do those things HAS changed.

How does the “how” change? You may be surprised to know that it’s not by changing what you have to work with. Science proves that. A physics fact is this: “There is nothing new under the sun.” Experiments show that the amount of energy in the universe (and matter, for that matter) remains constant. It may change shape, or direction, or form, or color…but it’s not lost. Burn a piece of wood. The energy and matter simply change into heat and smoke. Nothing is lost.

But change did occur. And what caused that change? It didn’t come from new elements. It came from how the elements that already existed interacted. When any two or more things in our universe interact, change occurs. It’s simple science. There can be no interaction without something happening.

If you want change, you don’t need to get a new office, a new job, a new relationship, a new house, or something new to work with to get that change. You get the change by interacting differently with what you already have. The Wright brothers didn’t add new elements to the universe. They interacted with energy, matter, and natural laws in different ways. And that new interaction changed their world. It changed OUR world! A different way to interact with that which already exists is the secret to all change.

I suppose you have things in your life that you’d like to change, right? Things you want to be better, faster, easier, more fulfilling. What are you tired of? What discomfort persists? What keeps you up at night? What annoys you? What bothers you? What prevents you? What enslaves you? What grips you by the throat, jerks you to within an inch of its grotesque face, burns a hole into your soul with its fiery eyes, breathes its foul breath into your nostrils, then hurls you across the room, paralyzing you in sheer terror? (Wow…where did THAT come from????)

The Wright brothers stopped, got off their horse, watched a bird, and learned to fly. You can do the same thing. Choose something you want to change. Stop. Observe. Experiment. Learn. Experiment some more. Learn some more. Interact with it. Interact in a different way. Keep doing this until you get the change you want. When you do, your world will change. Interaction equals change. It’s a law of the universe. But DON’T interact? And that “@#$%@#$” will never change – never…ever!
