Seasons and Handwriting (An Achievement Nudge about Cause and Effect)

Cause and effect are inextricably linked. It’s true, whether you are aware of the cause and effect…or not.
Achieve a Better Well-Being by Bringing More of Your Being Into Consciousness
The “effect” of a river flowing is a result of a number of “causes” – evaporation, clouds, rain, creeks converging, etc. YOU, too, are an “effect” of a bundle of “causes” – genetics, schooling, life events, etc. Our lives are filled with effects that are being driven by causes living in our subconscious. In fact, when you look at the research, it is frightening to find out the amazing number and type of causes that make us tick. I found a surprising “cause and effect” driver in research out of Budapest.
Hungarian researchers studied 400 people and their personalities. A surprising cause and effect surfaced. The researchers found a connection between the participants’ emotional well-being and the season in which they were born. Xenia Gonda, who led the research, said that biochemical studies showed that the birth season influenced certain monoamine neurotransmitters, and these neurotransmitters maintained their effect even into adult life.
Some examples of their findings are these: If you were born in either spring or summer you can become excessively positive, but summer babies can be more susceptible to frequent mood swings. Winter babies had a higher chance of being less irritable, and autumn babies were less likely to be depressive than winter babies. Though the effects weren’t huge, it seems the birth season causes a greater or lesser chance of developing certain emotional tendencies. Who’d a thought?
The causes that make us tick live in our subconscious. And, most of the time, we didn’t have a choice about those causes. BUT, we do have a choice about the EFFECT. How? By bringing an effect into our conscious mind and using our power of choice to deal with it. How do you do this? By noticing what you are doing, and paying attention to how you feel while doing it.
When you become aware, or conscious, like this, something magical happens. If you like what you are doing, and it feels good, you will enjoy it MORE through awareness and paying attention to it. You may even try to find ways to repeat it. But, if you DON’T like what you are doing or how you feel, you will probably make a choice to change it.
Notice: you don’t even have to find the cause(s) that drive the moment. Let’s say, for example, you are feeling the “effect” of being irritable. Even though you aren’t conscious that the “cause” may be the season you were born in, you can change your irritable state through awareness that you ARE irritable, and paying attention to how it “effects” you and those around you.
Maybe this kind of awareness and attention can change the world. What if people practiced more intimacy in the winter? We’d have more babies in the fall. And autumn babies have a tendency to be less depressive. Hey…maybe THAT’s why Holland is the happiest place on earth! Long winter, 9 months…you do the math.
