Are You the Turkey or the Gravy? (Thanksgiving Achievement Nudge)
Last Updated on November 25, 2024 by Bill Truby
Thanksgiving is a day of tradition: football, family, and a hearty meal. In our house, no matter the side dishes and desserts, the turkey and gravy always take center stage.
It’s the turkey that brings everyone to celebrate, but the gravy ties it all together. A big spoonful of good gravy can cover the turkey meat, the mashed potatoes, even other side dishes – and make it all taste better. Or, in the case of some food I’ve had to eat…tolerable.
Think about this symbolism. As a leader, you undoubtedly are the turkey. You certainly bring people together. But if you have the right leadership ingredients, you can be the all-important gravy, too.
For teams of people, just bringing people together isn’t enough. We also need to tie everything together. So, don’t just be a turkey; use the right ingredients, and you can be the gravy, too. Lead with warmth, share the joy, and trust that a little gravy fixes everything.
Pass the gravy, please…
Happy Thanksgiving!
