No matter where you are on this planet, there is a superpower all around you that few ever think about or acknowledge.

The superpower I am talking about is something that may surprise you. It is the common ant. These tiny creatures live all around us in vast numbers. We typically don’t acknowledge them as a superpower or even understand their strength. Though individually, they are a millionth the size of a human, they outnumber us a million to one. There are so many ants on the earth that if you added up their total weight, it would match the total weight of all humans on our entire planet. They are truly an impressive force of power.

But are ants truly a superpower? Scientists believe so. Their teamwork is incredibly resourceful. They can hold onto each other’s bodies to create a bridge for other ants. They can use their bodies to melt snow and dry out their homes. Their organization and delegation is so impressive, military experts study them. When they are on the march, little can stand in their way.

There are so many fascinating, unbelievable facts about ants and their achievements; it just blows your mind. They hunt. They farm. They keep herds of other insects. Certain types of ants can run the equivalent of a 26-mile marathon at a 4-minute per mile pace the entire time. They can endure higher heat than any other land animal. Their strength is way beyond what you’d expect from their size. Yet, unless this superpower strolls across our kitchen floor, its existence is completely away from our attention and out of our awareness…and that got me thinking.

I wondered what else we are unaware of. Immediately, it came to me. I realized there is a superpower within each of us that we seem to be just as unaware of as the ant-superpower. It is the “power of choice manifested in decision.” Few people claim this power. Fewer still use it. Here’s how it works…

When facing a storm of negative attitude, or thoughts, or behavior, bring this power to life by saying, “This ends today!” When you say this, it is so powerful that you can feel it. Starting a new path of positive pursuits with “This STARTS today!” can be just as powerful, just as fulfilling.

When your words are powered by choice, manifested in decision, there’s not much that can stop you. Make one decisive decision today. You’ll feel the amazing power.

One more macro inspiration from a micro insect. Possibly one of the most astounding things about ants is this: When they decide to go somewhere, nothing can stop them. Ants have been known to eat an entire tethered horse that was in their way. There is no “stop” in their “go”; there is no doubt in their day; there is no hesitancy in their insistency; and there is no weakness in their power. Why? Because they use the power of choice manifested in decision. And THAT, my friend, is truly a superpower.\
