I have a friend who’s a surgeon. His name is John. He’s cut me a few times in the past, but he’s retired now, so he’s no longer my surgeon. But he’s still my friend.
Now, John has a unique way of speaking about things. A unique way of teaching and sharing life’s principles. He’s really good at that. Always practical.
And he said something once to me that just made so much sense. It was like a self-evident truth.
And it was actually a business principle. He’s a surgeon. I’m learning business truths from my surgeon.
And the reason we were talking about this is because I said, John, you know, you are always so busy. I know that you’re a good surgeon, but what do you attribute your success to?
I was picking his brain a little bit and he said something that was just fantastic. He said, a business will always be successful if you are affable, affordable, and available.
That just made so much sense to me.
Affable means you’re friendly, you’re courteous, you’re engaging. People are attracted to you.
Affordable is obvious. You want to be able to price according to your value, but not price yourself out of the ballpark so people won’t be able to come to you.
And then available.
I have a friend of mine who opened up a store, but the store was never open. They were only there when they wanted to be.
Well, it wasn’t successful. So listen to the words of my surgeon. If you want to be successful in business, be affable, be affordable, and be available.
