There are four reasons why somebody wouldn’t follow through:
- Lack of awareness.
- Lack of training.
- Lack of resources.
- And lack of accountability.
The first one, some glitch in the communication to get the person to do it. Something wasn’t spoken clearly or heard
clearly.
Lack of training is obvious – they don’t know how to do it.
Lack of resources – they don’t have enough time or tools.
And lack of accountability – they’re just not doing it.
Now, if you don’t find the right cause, you will be possibly putting the wrong fix on the situation.
When you send somebody to training because they’re lacking in accountability it just perpetuates the problem.
When you send somebody to discipline, some kind of process, where they are being written up when it’s a lack of training, it’s demoralizing.
So find the right cause, then you can apply the right fix.
