TMS Step 4: Role/Responsibility Expectations

Often a team member is unclear on expectations of their performance and outcomes. And, if a person isn’t clear on what is expected of them, they are left to assumption. That is a clear set up for problems. The employee tries their best, but can only presume to be doing what is needed. Then the leader gets upset because the employee misses the mark.

The only way to avoid assumptions is to have clear communication. And the best tool to clarify expectations and outcomes for a team member is our tool called a “Role and Responsibility Sheet” – different than a job description.
